Overcoming Challenges Facing A “Luxury” Industry
As companies and individuals face spending challenges brought on by the recession, the first layer of budget cuts has by and large been in the area of “luxury” items. How do entrepreneurs in “luxury” industries cope with these cuts? Mark Uchida, owner of A Remarkable Kitchen Store, joins “The American Entrepreneur” Ron Morris to discuss the current state of the kitchen and bath remodeling and installation industries, and how he manages to overcome the challenges facing the kitchen industry, an industry facing a 40 percent drop in revenue in the last quarter.
Also on the Show:
THE BUSINESS OF HEALTH - Childhood Obesity in America: Who’s To Blame?
The issue of childhood obesity in America has become more prominent in recent years, thanks to the efforts of First Lady Michelle Obama. But as doctors and nutritionists find ways to curb the problem, they’re also assessing who, exactly, is to blame. Is it parents, who provide the food to the children, and thus, are ultimately responsible for their child’s dietary decisions? Is it our government, who set the food policies under which American food manufacturers operate? Or is it the food manufacturers themselves, who are the ones who produce the food our children eat, and as such, are directly responsible for producing what they put in their bodies? As part of “The Business of Health” segment on American Entrepreneur Radio, Dr. Will Clower of Mediterranean Wellness tackles this issue, as he talks with Michelle Bernard, a nationally-recognized expert commentator on women and child issues, and creator of the critically acclaimed “About Our Children” television program on MSNBC.
